Farewell, My Sweet, Sweet Man

It is with indescribable sadness that I let everyone know that my beloved Ben passed away peacefully at home on January 13th. Sweet husband, incredible father, undeniably great Mountie.  Ben and I  were together at home, surrounded by the love of our children, our family and our dear friends. At the time of his passing, Ben was surrounded by a circle of love, music was playing, and candles were lit as we all lay together in the same bed.  If there can possibly be a beautiful passing, this was it.

I miss him desperately already.  My anguish is slightly eased knowing that Ben was with those who love him most in the world, and his passing went exactly as he wished.

A Celebration of A Life Well Lived will be held and is open to anyone who wants to be inspired to live their life like Ben did. Reception to follow immediately afterwards.

Start Time: 1pm

  1. I have struggled to find the right words since I read of Ben’s passing the other day. Although I did not know Ben closely, it is so clear that he was a wonderful man, husband and father and his absence will be felt greatly. Wendy, thank you for allowing me a glimpse into your lives through these past months. Although I started reading this blog so I could be kept up to date on how Ben was doing, I soon found myself reading to be inspired by the love & strength & honesty you both displayed. I am so sorry for your loss.

  2. Wendy, I want to thank you and Ben for this blog. It was a wonderful way to keep those of us who aren’t necessarily involved in your everyday life updated on your family’s journey. I know many of the posts had to be extremely difficult to write as you wore your heart on your sleeve. Thank you for your courage and extreme openness. It’s been easy to see what an absolute source of strength you have been for everyone involved. Mike and I will be at the service to pay our respects to an amazing man. ❤️
